Reasons why people use a private GP?
Focaldata did a detailed report on people accessing private GPs, and found that the big four reasons why people might choose a private GP are:
- That patients want to be seen quickly when they need help.
- Patients want it to be easy to book an appointment.
- Patients want to be able to book face to face appointments.
- Patients want to be seen by the same GP for every appointment.
Around 70% of respondents feared that they would struggle to get an NHS GP appointment should they need one, with concerns raised about seeing healthcare professionals other than a GP or having to wait an unacceptable length of time to see the GP of their choice. Half of respondents felt that seeing a private GP would free up the NHS appointments for other patients.
One of the biggest frustrations is the robust nature of booking an appointment with an NHS GP can lead to unwanted extra difficulties for patients. The systems within the NHS sometimes mean you have to be free to take a call back through the day, making it difficult to plan work, meetings or other activities. Accessing a private GP means being able to book an appointment in a variety of ways; including booking appointments at short notice, over the phone or online, when urgent issues arise; and planned appointments in advance when you want to plan ahead.
Many choose to use a private GP alongside their NHS GP. Seeing a private GP does not affect your registration with your NHS GP. Many will then choose to use their NHS GP for their routine and ongoing care, but choose to see their private GP when an urgent or unexpected issue arises and they need to help urgently or to fit around other preplanned activities.
Anglim Private Health offers appointments for anyone who wants to use our service. Appointments can be booked directly online, or over the phone. And you will see through our online booking portal that there are plentiful appointments available on our days of operation. If you prefer to book over the phone, you can just give us a call on 01284 245665 and even when closed or not available just leave a message and a member of the team will call you back as soon as possible.
If you become a member, you will have unrivalled access to your private GP. You will be able to book a face to face appointment online or over the phone, and have access to unlimited appointments when needed. If on a day we are open if there are no appointments remaining, just give us a call and an appointment will be created for you. And members will be able to call straight through to their private GP, email their private GP directly or message their private GP if that is what is required.
If you are a member, Anglim Private Health will create appointments for your visiting relatives, friends or guests if there are no standard appointments available.
Ultimately with Anglim Private Health, if you are a member or accessing individual appointments, you will be able to see a GP when you need to and will benefit from always being able to see the same GP every time.
