A recent news report from the BBC has highlighted an increase in the number of patients per NHS GP.
The places with the worst GP shortages revealed
Unfortunately the last 5 years has seen an increasing amount of pressure on NHS GP practices from all sides. The biggest measure of this is an increasing number of patients per GP and the result of this is within the NHS:
- Patients are finding it increasingly difficult to see a GP at all
- When they do they can often end up seeing a different GP each time
- Patients are feeling that that they are pressured in to seeing different healthcare professionals like a physio or pharmacist when they would prefer to see a GP
- And as a result the delivery of healthcare is not as good as it could be
At Anglim Private Health we have a different approach. We aim to provide patients with the continuity of seeing the same GP on every occasion. We look to make appointments available at convenient times, including early, late and weekend appointments. You won’t be pressured in to seeing other healthcare professionals if you are calling to see a GP. And most importantly if you are a member there will always be an appointment made available for you, even if our planned appointments are all full.
Underpinning all of this is a lower number of patients per GP. A four day GP in the NHS will now look after 2300 patients and our initial offering is just space for 200 patient members, less than 10% of what would be expected in the NHS. If you choose to see a private GP, you will continue to be registered with your NHS GP and can continue to access care there as needed. Seeing a GP privately will then free up appointments at your NHS practice for other patients.
